Special Guest, and Greencastle Native to Appear at 2017 Music Fest

Don Von Tress, writer of country mega hit ‘Achy Breaky Heart’, is set to perform on stage with the Louisville Crashers at the Greencastle Music Fest, in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the hit song.

Songwriter Don Von Tress, originally from Greencastle, will be returning to celebrate the anniversary of his hit song, ‘Achy Breaky Heart’, with his hometown at the “Greencastle Music Fest” on August 26, 2017. First hitting the radio in 1992, the popular country super-song that kick-started Billy Ray Cyrus’ career, turned 25 years old this year. Von Tress has agreed to a special performance of this song, and this song only, with “The Louisville Crashers”.

The song, written by Von Tress and performed by Billy Ray Cyrus, was a huge success. Spending 5 weeks in the Billboard country number one spot. The song won many awards including Single of the year, Country Record of the Year and Best Selling single. The song was also nominated for Record of the year at the Grammys.

Gail Smith, owner of Almost Home and event creator shared, “We can’t wait to have Don Von Tress come perform and celebrate this song with us. I think everyone can remember when Achy Breaky Heart was all over the radio. It is such a fun song to sing along to.”   Mark Maxwell, lead singer of the Louisville Crashers added, “We are so excited to jam with Don on August 26th! He wrote a song that will last forever…how many people from Greencastle have done that!?”

Greencastle Music Fest, hosted by Almost Home Restaurant, will have many events throughout the on Saturday, August 26, from 3-11pm on the square in Greencastle. Main performances at the Music Fest will include premier band straight from Kentucky, “The Louisville Crashers”. Also, performing will be “Southern Country” a very popular band from the Indy area.
